Opening Campfire Sixth Session :)

Torch bearers brought each of our two villages down to the waterfront in style tonight. Each village staff performed some exciting songs as did the program staff. We had a couple of guests performers who showed Camp some great skits (thanks Alex, Kat, and Jason), like the world champion spitter. Of course, yours truely performed an all-time great song, "Father Abraham", that you'll just have to ask your campers about the next time you see them. So far it's a wonderful night, TAPS will sound throughout Camp shortly and all will be quiet until tomorrow morning!

Baxter Park Dedication

Today was the much anticipated dedication of our brand new baseball/softball field named to recognize the wonderful things that George Baxter did for Camp Chingachgook. The dedication lasted about an hour in length and included some live music from the Deltones, a couple of great cheers from each village, the dedication ceremony and of course a homerun derby where everyone in attendance saw the first two homeruns hit! Ultimately the idea of the field came from the Alumni Association who officially presented it to the Campers of 2008 today, what a great gift! Here are several photos of the great event, everyone there had a great time.

August CIT's Celebrate

It's been a fast past 48 hours for the August CITs. They arrived at Camp, saw Session two end, the staff depart, and then had Camp to themselves as they prepared for their first session as CITs. Today brought several different sessions that included a swim check and a speech from George Painter, as well as time to plan for their first opening campfire song tomorrow night. What will they sing? I have no idea, but if they sing anything like they dance, then we are in some serious trouble...just kidding. Here are some photos from tonight, the celebration party for making it through CIT training!
